New Dubai Airport reports on the results of 2018

In 2018, 900 thousand passengers passed through the new Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport.

CIS countries, Western and Eastern Europe are among the top regions that contributed to a significant increase in the number of flights and passenger traffic at Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).

At the same time, Russia provided almost half of the passenger flow by sending about 400 thousand air passengers to the new airport in 2018. Behind her in the list of leaders are Germany (170 thousand) and Lebanon (55 thousand). Most passengers arrived from Moscow, Beirut and Polish Katowice.

Currently, ten passenger airlines use the services of Al Maktoum Airport on average 21 flights a week to seven destinations, and twenty cargo airlines. In total, in 2018, Al Maktoum International Airport served almost 30 thousand flights.

Airport management connects the increase in the number of passengers with the introduction of new services in the field of scheduled and charter flights in the second half of the year.

In 2019, the airport is preparing for more active operation in connection with the reconstruction of the southern runway at Dubai International Airport (DXB). The closure of the strip will lead to a decrease in throughput and the new Al Maktoum airport will accept regular, charter and cargo flights for a month and a half, previously served in Dubai's main air harbor - Dubai International Airport.

Recall that at the end of 2018, Dubai International Airport served 89.1 million passengers. Passenger traffic from Russia grew by 14.5% and reached 1.5 million tourists in 2018, from China - by 6% and reached 3.5 million passengers, which was the result of simplification of the visa regime in 2017 and 2016, respectively.
