Almost 3 million people work in Dubai

Every day, 700 thousand people come to work in Dubai.

About 700 thousand people come to work daily in Dubai, according to an annual survey by the Dubai Statistics Center. Currently, 2.7 million people work in Dubai, with more than two million people living in the emirate.

Over the past three years, Dubai’s workforce has increased on average by 110 thousand people a year.

The number of employed people of working age increased by one percentage point and reached 83.1 percent this year. More than half of the workforce is women.

According to the statistics center, high rates "reflect the positive impact of government policies aimed at promoting gender balance."

According to estimates in Dubai, there are 2,851 unemployed emirates. From the point of view of all workers, the unemployment rate last year was only 0.5 percent, which, according to the Center, is "significantly lower than the world average." Almost all unemployed were under the age of 40, and four out of ten people were under 24 years old.

Companies in the construction sector are the largest employers - they accumulate almost 28 percent of the workforce, while almost one in five works in the wholesale and retail trade and 8 percent in the manufacturing industry.

Six out of ten employees have a certificate of secondary education or higher qualifications, with 34 percent having a bachelor's degree or higher. Emirates are generally more highly qualified.
