Quinting is best known for creating the first completely transparent chronograph, which no other watch brand in the world has ever succeeded in. About new masterpieces, the unique Art collection and plans for the future, we were told by Pascal Berkla, whom we met in the boutique of the Damas group, which is the official distributor of the brand in the Middle East.

Pascal, this year Quinting impressed the entire watch world with the new Art collection, the main masterpiece of which was the unique The Moonlight watch. Please tell us more about their idea.

The Moonlight is a real breakthrough. We created such a mechanism for the first time in the watch industry. The moon rotates around the Earth and accurately shows its phases: it is a minute hand. In addition, look, there is a small comet here that flies around the Earth every hour. At this moment you can make a wish. The whole picture is painted by enamel by hand. In this case, no image is repeated. In total, 360 watches are presented in this collection, and each of them is one degree in the full revolution of the Moon around the Earth. And each time the center of the Earth is placed in one of the largest cities in the world - Moscow, New York, Dubai, Geneva.

It is impossible to repeat such work. Each model in The Moonlight line is unique and cannot be copied. In my opinion, this is a very good investment. By the way, I have kept a watch with images of Geneva and Zurich for myself. They won’t go on sale, anyway soon (laughs).

What else has your collection of Art added to this year?

Two more magnificent models appeared in it - The Cherry Blossom ("Cherry Blossoming") and The Koifish ("Koifish"). This is a tribute to Asian culture. Thin and bright patterns are made at different levels of transparent sapphire plates, creating a sense of volume and movement. Why did we pay attention to koishish, or Japanese carps? You know, an ancient legend says that these fish can not only swim with the current or against it, but also climb up the waterfalls. Therefore, a watch model with its image will be a wonderful reminder to the owner or owner that time is just an excuse to move forward.

We heard that you updated the team of your masters. What new ideas did they bring to the company?

Yes, indeed, we made some personnel shifts. One new director was hired, and he already updated the team, including engineers. They all came to Quinting not just to get paid. They really know that they will benefit from this. Together with the new team, we created The Moonlight and the Cyclone collection with a mechanism that compensates for the effect of gravity on the clock. Inside the model are two mechanisms that rotate in opposite directions.

In addition, in the models of this series, we hid an "engineer" who can restart the mechanism. We have patented it specifically for watches. Taking this watch in your hands, you can literally look inside the time and see its progress.

Throughout its history, Quinting has worked closely with renowned fashion brands. It seems to us that this year for Quinting will be full of surprises, right?

We are really planning a grand surprise at the end of this year. We started cooperation with a very famous brand, which I will not name yet. I must say that the models that we will release will be radically different from those that we once presented together with Dior. In them, 100% everything will be different. This Quinting line will be a real discovery. I think our customers will be able to receive wonderful gifts by Christmas. I must say that today fashion brands are constantly searching for new ideas, and it’s really difficult to find something fundamentally different. Therefore, I can note that our partners are indeed lucky.

Which of your collections sell best? Among Quinting's lineups, are there unconditional global bestsellers?

Honestly, all of our watches are selling well and are of constant interest to buyers in different countries. I can’t select any specific line. The thing is that Quinting watches are not produced in huge numbers.

For example, in Hong Kong, we had so many proposals for opening our own departments in department stores and boutiques, which, I'm afraid, we could hardly satisfy these needs. Today we successfully operate in 25 countries of the world - in Russia and the USA, in Europe and Asia. In Russia, our watches are presented in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Quinting brand offices have recently opened in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Nothing to complain about, you see for yourself. And we will continue to expand gradually.

Coming back to the Middle East, how do you assess cooperation with Damas, the exclusive Quinting agent in the region?

We are fully satisfied with both our cooperation and the way we are represented in the UAE and the countries of the Middle East. You, of course, know how in difficult times many partners refused each other, pretending to be unfamiliar. On the contrary, we always supported each other and were able to maintain excellent business and partnerships. I think it will continue to be the same.
