Tourists spent in the United Arab Emirates US $ 33 billion in 2012

In 2012, foreign tourists who visited the United Arab Emirates spent 121.1 billion dirhams (US $ 33 billion) in the country, which accounted for 42% of the total spending in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Such data was released in Abu Dhabi during the launch ceremony of the new website www.hotelandrest.com in the presence of Muhammad Khamis Al Muheiri, Director General of the National Council on Tourism and Antiquities. The purpose of the new resource is to ensure the further promotion of the UAE as a center of tourism and entertainment.

In 2012, investment in the development of tourism in the UAE amounted to 82.8 billion (US $ 22.5 billion), almost 55% of the total amount invested in all countries of the Middle East. At the same time, the tourism sector brought the country's economy 193.6 billion dirhams (US $ 52.9 billion).
