Virtuoso Transformations Van Cleef & Arpels

For the second year in a row, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry house has become a partner of the unique exhibition Design Days Dubai, which took place in a specially constructed tent at the foot of the tallest building in the world - the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, from March 17 to March 21 of the current year.

As we already wrote in the previous issue of Russian Emirates (No. 54, March-April 2013), the exposition was devoted to metamorphoses: the changing relationships of lovers are presented in precious items.

In just two years since its founding, Designers' Days in Dubai have earned a reputation as a contemporary art fair, bringing unique design finds and exclusive art objects to the Middle East, many of which are of museum value. Thus, this exhibition space has become an ideal platform for Van Cleef & Arpels, which has set itself the task of impressing the discerning audience with ever-living jewelry masterpieces - transformers.

Since its founding in 1906, Van Cleef & Arpels strengthens the glory of the creator of magnificent jewelry and a true innovator. The ability to transform has become for the masters of the House one of the main creative creeds. It is impossible not to note their technical complexity, versatility and unlimited beauty. The artist’s artistic flair allows you to turn necklaces into bracelets, disassemble the necklace into earrings and clips, unfold the rings into a precious ornament that covers the fingers of the brush. Such jewelry will be ideal companions of any mood.

The entire 20th century is the era of transformation in the glorious history of Van Cleef & Arpels. For example, the Secret watch became a symbol of the distant 30s, easily turned into a bracelet hiding the dial and studded with precious stones. And in 1939, the Passe-partout necklace was revealed to the world, so versatile that it could be worn as a necklace, as a belt, or as a bracelet. Two precious flowers decorating it can be removed and tried on separately, in the form of clips. Another landmark creation is the Lightning jewelry masterpiece, the idea of which was created by the famous Duchess of Windsor.

Unique products in which all the skill and talent of artists, designers and cutters are embedded cannot be admired, not amazed, not bewitched. Beautiful creations, owned by great actresses and royal figures, preserve the history of the 20th century and carry strength, attractiveness and perfection.

In 2013, 29 galleries participated in the Designers Days in Dubai, which displayed 135 exhibits brought from six continents, which was yet another proof of the emirate’s cosmopolitan nature. Visitors to the exhibition really enjoyed exploring rare and unique exhibits, took part in panel discussions and master classes, including those organized with the assistance of the most influential masters of our time.
