UAE seeks to introduce a visa-free regime with Schengen countries

His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Butti Al Hamed, UAE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that the diplomatic department is making intensive efforts to free citizens of the country from having to obtain visas to enter European countries belonging to the Schengen zone. According to him, negotiations last for a year.

"The United Arab Emirates is grateful that their request will be included in the list of applications for candidate countries for exemption from entry visas into the countries of the Schengen zone. We understand that we are waiting for complex discussions due to internal procedures of the European Union. Although a decision has not yet been made, and the request to be verified, we are sure that a mutually beneficial result will be achieved, "Al Ahmed said.

According to the United Arab Emirates, the introduction of a visa-free regime with the countries of the Schengen agreement will contribute to further growth in foreign trade, which today amounts to more than US $ 40 billion. This will also positively affect the development of cultural ties between the Arab and European world. In addition, residents of European countries themselves will more often travel to the UAE.
