A NEW FASHIONABLE PLACE MARIMEKKO APPEARED IN DUBAI - A BOUTIQUE WITH CLOTHES, TEXTILE, HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND A COMFORTABLE CAFE WITH A BRILLIANT MODERN DESIGN.

Going out to the Finnish store for reconnaissance, before that we look at the map: Box Park Dubai. This laconic name at first evokes associations with a sports fighting club, but everything turns out to be completely wrong. A new place on Jumeirah is a promenade with container boxes compactly placed one after another, along a small street with shops, galleries and cafes.

Marimekko is hard to miss. In the middle of the industrial landscape, pillows with spectacular prints immediately stand out, a black sign hangs on top (all in capital letters, as minimalist Steve Jobs liked) marimekko ... The Scandinavian interior with a huge light space and high ceilings helps to capture the whole picture at once. The bright color palette inside the store disarms, a warm feeling spreads in the soul - because pure color immediately causes positive emotions.

However, looking at specific objects, you understand that the main highlight of marimekko is in prints. In 1964, the Finnish Fashion and Design House created its signature Unikko print, which is widely used today - juicy red poppies on a white background. The black core of these colors correctly accents. Contrary to the traditional “cold” Scandinavian design, the childishly simple but effective Unikko pattern, created by the first marimekko designer Maya Isola, once resonated in Helsinki. Today it is a visiting card of the House, as well as a modern piece of art, inspiring interior feats even in the space of your own apartment.

Indeed, presenting my monochrome studio in "color", I carefully consider the accessories offered by this store for home. Crockery, linen tablecloths, bed linens pleasant for the body look more appetizing than in catalogs. The ironic names of objects are especially touching. There are, for example, Socks Rolled Dowan colored glasses, created by designer Anu Pentinnen and reminiscent of lowered warm socks. There is also a department where you can choose your favorite material and order pillows, bedspreads or curtains from it.

Speaking of sewing: another feature of the store is designer clothes and bags for women and children. One of the iconic A-line dresses with the Finnish name Kihlatasku was designed by the staff designer Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi in 1960. In his wide pockets, according to the author’s idea, you can "hide small gifts or notes for your loved ones." Among tunics, cardigans and dresses, you can also pick up scarves and bags from the signature cotton canvas.

Our verdict: marimekko is one of those lifestyle stores where you want to buy everything at once. Affordable prices (an average of 200-500 dirhams) only strengthen this desire, so lovers of bright colors and combinations should like it here.
