The latest creation by Giacomo Puccini, the opera Turandot, will be shown in September at the Dubai Opera. The main roles will be performed by artists of the Shanghai and Dubai opera houses.
The action takes place in ancient Beijing. The wayward princess Turandot announces that all who wish to woo her should guess three riddles. Those who could not find the answers will be executed, but those who succeed will be able to marry the beautiful princess.
Many men fail. Finally, the clever Prince appears, who gives answers to all the riddles of the Princess and offers her to solve his own riddle - the secret of his name.
This opera of an outstanding composer includes one of the most famous tenor arias in the world musical heritage. The production of Roberto Ando, which earned high marks from critics, involved more than 200 talented performers.
