Dubai Film Festival opening ceremony gathers stars from around the world on the red carpet

Sir Patrick Stewart, Cate Blanchett, Wahid Hamid, Irrfan Khan, Hand Sabri and Sonam Kapoor are just a few of the stars who walked the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the Dubai International Film Festival.

On December 6, the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) opened with a gorgeous evening gala at Madinat Jumeirah. Local celebrities and stars of the first magnitude appeared on the red carpet.

On the first night of the eight-day film festival, the premiere of Scott Cooper's "Foes" took place. The main roles in it are played by Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike. The film was the first of more than 140 works to come from 51 countries to be shown at the 14th festival.

"Foes" tells the story of a captain (Christian Bale) who reluctantly agrees to accompany the dying Cheyenne chieftain to his native lands in Montana. Former enemies face a young widow (Rosamund Pike), whose family was killed by the Indians. Together they must join forces to overcome all the dangers in their path.

The 14th film festival was honored by the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansur bin Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Among the legendary stars at the DIFF opening appeared Cate Blanchett, Wahid Hamed, Sir Patrick Stewart, Hand Sabri, Vanessa Williams, David Harbor, Ussa, Mona Usef, Aida Riad, Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra, Saphea Al Omari, Ahmad Ezzal, Menna Nayna Al Hajj, Muhammad Boiley, Klaus Bang, Sonam Kapoor, Tuba Byustyun, Olga Kurylenko, Magdi Ahmed Ali, Nadine Neyim, Hani Al Shaibani, Bushra, Marwan Hamed, Basel Hayat, Nishrin Tafesh, Dima Al-Dzhundi, Mais Hamdan, Mai Hamdan, May Farid Ramadan, Dominic Cook, Martina Gedek, Ahd Kamel, Mehdi M. Barsaui, Ahmad Abdullah and Raedndoni .

At the DIFF opening ceremony, awards were presented to people who made outstanding contributions to the cinema. Four festival participants this year were awarded: the famous Egyptian writer Wahid Hamed - for his work and its impact on the film industry; the legendary Sir Patrick Stewart - for a long career in the cult movie; Indian actor Irrfan Khan, whose unique work with characters affected not only India, but also reached international screens; and world-famous Australian actress and two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett.

This year, films will be screened for eight days at the Madinat Jumeirah Arena, at the Madinat Theater, at the Souk Madinat Jumeirah and VOX Cinemas, Mall of the Emirates, as well as at THE BEACH - across from the JBR. Tickets for the sessions can be purchased at the DIFF ticket office, at www.dubaifilmfest.com, and at the VOX Cinemas ticket office at the Mall of the Emirates. Tickets can also be purchased at Madinat Arena, Madinat Jumeirah and at Madinat Theater, Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
