Supercar McLaren "deprived" of the roof
McLaren officially introduced another member of the supercar family - the McLaren MP4-12C. The open-top version received a metal three-piece hard top and an updated 625-horsepower engine.
An open modification of the supercar was equipped with a metal rigid roof, but this did not have a special effect on the weight of the car, it was only 40 kg heavier. The three-piece roof is able to unfold at speeds up to 30 km / h, it takes 17 seconds to complete this process. The modest increase in weight is also explained by the fact that the supercar was originally developed with an eye to building an open version, so the power structure of the body did not require modernization.
The car received the same 625-horsepower 3.8-liter turbo engine as the coupe, but due to the modified aerodynamics and increased weight, the open modification is slightly slower. It accelerates 0.1 s slower to 100 mph (in 6.1 s), and spends 0.2 s more on acceleration to 200 km / h (9.0 seconds). But the results on acceleration to 100 km / h are completely identical - 3.1 seconds.
Another design difference between the “spider” and the coupe is the integrated system for protecting passengers when capsizing and a special wind screen between the head restraints, which optimizes air flow. In addition, McLaren came up with a way to use the compartment in which the roof is packed to carry luggage - it holds 52 liters of luggage when the hard top is unfolded. The company's designers even developed special bags for this compartment.
Infiniti jx perfect crossover
Arabian Automobiles, an exclusive dealer of Nissan, Infiniti and Renault in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, has unveiled the latest Infiniti JX. The presentation took place at the five-star Atlantis Hotel, The Palm. The automaker himself calls the JX “the perfect crossover,” noting the versatility and spaciousness in the cabin, a high level of security and a wide range of options.
The car is equipped with three rows of full seats. The second row of seats can be moved forward for easier access to the third. When moving the second row on it, you can leave a child car seat, and it will not interfere.
The rich technical equipment and the use of advanced technology is another advantage of luxury cars, and Infiniti "did not face the dirt" here. The Bose stereo sound system with 14 speakers, the latest Infiniti Connection Telematics navigation system, an intelligent dead zone detection system and an obstacle detection system behind a car with active video cameras are just a small part of the innovative electronics of the new Infiniti JX. As for the power units, so far only officially announced a powerful, but at the same time economical V6 with all-wheel drive and a CVT continuously variable variator. According to official figures, the Infiniti JX delivers best-in-class fuel economy by consuming just over 11 liters per 100 kilometers.
Super lightweight Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster
Gargash Enterprises, the exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz cars in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates, has unveiled the new ultra-light SL Roadster. Almost 60 years ago, Mercedes-Benz began to master the new model, encrypting its name in the abbreviation SL (Sport Leicht), which in German means "sporty, lightweight." The ancestors of the first Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, which received unique doors in the shape of a seagull wing, are still manufactured. The idea of weight loss has become a real fetish for Mercedes engineers. With manic pedantry, they removed grams from each part, replacing steel with aluminum to make the skeleton of the machine easier. And now they say that "the new ultralight body, 89% made of aluminum." The weight of the entire structure is only 254 kg, which is 110 kg lighter than its predecessor. Only the frame of the windshield, door hinges, as well as the roof frame and trunk lid are made of steel.
No less difficult goal was faced by designers of a new generation of roadster. They had to solve at least two problems: maintain the continuity of the SL model and fit the design of the new item into the modern lineup. In addition, the design development of a convertible, and even more a roadster, is complicated by the fact that the image must be complete with both an open and a closed top. But, as before, the design problem was solved by the developers of the new Mercedes SL perfectly.
Increased attention was paid to the new audio system, more precisely, the FrontBass front speaker mount system, which uses the free space in the cavities in the area of the front of the foot niche as a resonating space. Combined with the optional Bang & Olufsen audio system, the sound is truly clear and powerful even at maximum volume.
In the arsenal of options Mercedes SL - active cruise control, panoramic roof Magic Sky Control with a variable degree of transparency, contactless access to the trunk by moving the legs under the rear bumper and Internet access. But special pride is the new Magic Vision Control windshield cleaning system, which sprays glass cleaning liquid from microscopic holes in the wiper itself, taking into account the direction of brush movement. The system has not only several operating modes, but also optional heating.
