Interviewed: Natalia Remmer Spanish fashion house "Custo Barcelona" presented to the public a new fragrance "Glam Star" ("Star of Glamor") for all lovers of a glamorous lifestyle and quality perfumes.
A brilliant and sparkling perfume can be called daring, moderately feminine and optimistic. The fruit and aromatic pyramid reveals notes of mandarin, bergamot, strawberry, pear, jasmine and musk, leaving a wood-vanilla trail of sandalwood and white cedar. A note of blackcurrant gives a pleasant sourness - one of the relevant modern ingredients.
One of the most famous composers of our era, Senor Alberto Morillas, nicknamed Hidalgo, became the nose of the fragrance: the famous Spaniard with sharp features and piercing blue eyes creates formulas for YSL and Carolina Herrera, Bvlgari, Kenzo and other high-fashion houses. He calls the results of his work “the art of matching aroma, color and sound”, in which there is nostalgia for bygone days and his own concept of luxury. Alberto Morillas spoke about the new creation and look at the female beauty in an interview with our publication.
Mr. Morillas, when you work with fashion designers, do you take into account what style their clothing collections are made in? Do they inspire you?
Yes of course. I need to understand the essence of the brand in order to transform its DNA into a fragrance. Custo Barcelona energizes thanks to its vibrant colors and textures that combine in a very original way. And I could not help but be inspired by the dynamism and youth of the brand.
How do you see a woman who wears a Glam Star?
This fragrance is for a bright and passionate woman, a real seductress, accustomed to be an object of admiration, always be in the spotlight, and at the same time, remain a feminine nature.
Speaking in the language of perfumery, what kind of notes make a woman shine? 
The ingredients that sparkle. Citrus notes, fresh fruity, watery accords, some floral. In addition, their correct combination gives a brilliant effect.
Some fragrances can radiate light ...
Yes, it can be a light floral aroma, with hints of wood and musk. They lie better on the skin and mix more gently. They do not scream sexuality, but emit much more subtle messages.
For yourself, what does glamor mean?
Glamor is a matter of interpretation. For me, this is the search for the perfect balance between luxurious elegance and "frank boasting."
How can I attract attention with a fragrance?
A fragrance is something very personal, connected with your own emotions, memories and culture. Different aromas attract us, however, if you want the aroma to be attractive, it should have an “olfactory trail” that attracts people. It should be neither too light nor too strong.
Is there a difference between creating a perfume for an evening appearance or fragrance for every day?
Yes, I choose a separate approach for each fragrance I create. I compose for day and night, and for different designers, and for different markets, and each of them is on its own. However, I never sacrifice the elegance of a fragrance, always choosing the best ingredients and mixing them carefully.
Please tell us how you chose the ingredients for Star Glam?
While working on this fragrance, I experimented with various aspects of the personality of the glamorous diva for a long time. To emphasize its radiance, I chose fresh, fruity and sweet ingredients - bergamot, mandarin and pear. I placed feminine notes of jasmine and musk in the heart of the fragrance, and added sensuality with a note of red fruits. The strength of the personality was emphasized by the base of precious wood, patchouli and vanilla.
You have already created several fragrances for Custo Barcelona. Do they have any particular ingredient that is common to all?
Bergamot notes are present in all aromas, which is interpreted differently each time. I like working with this ingredient, it brings freshness to the upper chords, and its versatility allows you to “play” with it.
What do you think the stars smell like?
A star is a person with his own preferences and emotions. She smells like she wants to smell.
Have you ever had to ask a woman what fragrance she wears?
Yes, if the situation allows, I can ask. I study with every new aroma, and if something arouses my curiosity, I will certainly try to find the answer.
What do you like most about creating a fragrance?
Definitely, the very beginning of the path: the interpretation of the first idea and the first emotions associated with it are the most exciting part of any project.
Where does the female aura and its fragrance meet?
A woman creates her aura, and aroma is the olfactory aspect of this aura. In fact, a woman chooses a fragrance that she likes, in which she feels comfortable, which highlights the facets of her personality.
