Lipstick as a decoration

HIS CULT SHOES WITH RED SOLE SOMETIMES SERVED A BEGINNING POINT FOR CREATING A Nail Polish Line. NOW THE RED COLOR INSPIRES CHRISTIAN LUBUTEN ON THE ISSUE OF COLLECTION OF LIP-LIPPOPS.

Text: Anna Pavlova

Christian: Speaking of beauty, I always wanted to focus on my lips. After all, besides the eyes, lips are the most expressive feature of a woman's face. I love the effect that lipstick creates, and if a woman wears red lipstick, she is much more concerned with her facial expression and speech. And finally, lips - this is the part of the female face on which the red color looks completely natural.

Where did the idea of such an unusual form of lipstick come from?

Christian: First of all, I wanted the girls to enjoy using it. When you think about lipstick, it seems that this subject is purely utilitarian and, frankly, not too attractive. I wanted to do something so beautiful that it would cause envy and a desire to immediately get the same. I wanted to make lipstick a piece of art so that a woman would wear it as a real decoration.

Red color runs red thread through all your work - shoes, nail polishes, now lipstick. What does red symbolize for you?

Christian: Red is really extremely important to me. He can be associated with anything: desire, danger, power. When a woman wears red lipstick, it means that she is confident in herself. She herself controls how others see and perceive her; and this force is always clearly read. It’s also a rather daring call: "Look in my face."

Tell us how a woman should use your lipstick?

Christian: When a woman glides in high heels, she notices that her posture is changing, and her legs seem to stretch. She even starts to walk differently. I want a woman, taking my lipstick out of her purse, hold it with her whole hand, feel the weight of the case, feel the coolness of the metal and its elegant shape. When you hold the lipstick with your whole hand, and not with your fingertips, you gain more control, confidence and gain sharpened clarity of movement.

The collection has three shades of red - Silky Satin, Velvet Matte and Sheer Voile.

Christian: Silky Satin is a deep, dense shade with a soft satin finish. Velvet Matte - a shade with an abundance of pigment and a matte finish, which does not dry out the lips. Sheer Voile is a finer color with a beautiful sheen.

How did you choose the color palette?

Christian: Choosing colors for lipsticks was extremely exciting. In the end, I settled on 38 shades with three finish options. Moreover, all shades are named after a particular shoe or bag model, for example, Miss Clichy is red-violet, and Zoulou carries echoes of African savannahs.
