Art Russe: War and Peace

EXHIBITION "COLLECTION OF RUSSIAN AND SOVIET ART OF THE XX CENTURY ART RUSSE: WAR AND PEACE" WILL OPEN IN THE CAPITAL OF THE UAE ABU DABI OCTOBER 7, 2015. She will be held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikh Nakhayan Ben Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development of the United Arab Emirates, in one of the halls of the Hotel Emirates.

The exhibition, which will be entitled "Collection of Russian and Soviet Art of the 20th Century Art Russe: War and Peace," will be built on the thematic principle, where viewers will be presented in four sections of more than 120 works created over the past century in various genres of Russian and Soviet art schools.

The legacy of the war section includes works devoted to the events of World War II. The second section will reflect the theme of "Nature and Beauty"; in the third section, canvases of large formats related to the general theme of "Meditation" will be exposed; the last fourth section will reveal to the audience the everyday life of Soviet people through the canvases of Soviet academicians of the second half of the 20th century, including Alexei Gritsai, Semyon Chuikov, representatives of the “severe style” with Tair Salakhov at the head, and later paintings by Arkady Plastov. The exhibition will also bring sculptures of Vera Mukhina and Evgeny Vuchetich, authors of the most famous Soviet monuments.
