UAE will become an international center of space tourism

The Chairman of the United Arab Emirates Space Agency spoke about the creation of the first spaceport for tourists in the country.

On the sidelines of the fifth anniversary of the UAE Space Agency in Abu Dhabi, the chairman of the agency, Dr. Ahmad Al Falasi, told the media that negotiations are underway to create the first spaceport for tourists in the country.

However, the project is still at an early stage of discussion.

"The first thing that matters to us as an investor is to make sure that the investment pays off, that it is a viable project. In case of demand, we will be extremely pleased to host a spaceport," Al Falasi said.

Earlier this year, the UAE Space Agency and Virgin Galactic agreed on space flights for tourists from Al Ain International Airport. Virgin Galactic plans to become the first commercial company to operate regular passenger space flights.

It also became known that the UAE authorities intend to adopt a new law that will open the way for investment and will regulate the activities of companies in the field of space tourism in the country.
