Abu Dhabi begins search for a fallen meteorite

Abu Dhabi astronomers ask locals to help find a fallen meteorite.

Dubai, UAE. The Abu Dhabi Astronomical Center asked local residents to assist in the search for a meteorite that fell in the desert in the south of Al Wathba on March 5. Drop captured cameras at two points of observation.

As noted in the center, a meteorite can consist of particles whose age exceeds the age of the solar system, and shed light on the geological history of the Earth, the Moon and stars. They also specified the signs of stone: a diameter of one to three centimeters and a mass of two to 10 grams.

Currently, astronomers are examining an area of about 15 km at the site of the alleged fall and hope that the meteorite fell near the road, which will greatly facilitate the search. It is noted that on March 5 at 19.40 he entered the atmosphere at a speed of 18 km / s and caught fire at an altitude of 95 km above the Qoa and Umm Al Zamoul areas.

Anyone with valuable information about the fall or whereabouts of a meteorite can post information on stronomycenter.net. The amount of remuneration is not reported.
