History of Relocation to Dubai (UAE)

To be honest, it seems that the place chose us rather than us. When I lived in Kharkov, I really wanted to move to warmer climes or somewhere to Europe.

When my husband and I were offered to work in tourism in Dubai, we almost did not hesitate. It was still better than staying in Ukraine with vague prospects. And then they offered a complete package: work in the office, stable salary, housing, air travel, visa and insurance. How to disagree?

There were no fears at all! It is important that there were two of us, so potential fears and insecurities were divided into two. I still miss home. Sometimes there is nostalgia, but I do not regret moving for a second.

When we finally moved, it was very hot in Dubai. To put it mildly ... +45. Five times a day, we heard a mosque calling people to prayer. All this, of course, is unusual. Clothing was also different. At first, I was even a little afraid of women in black dresses and with closed faces. But then I got used to it.

The company provided us with housing, and transport was not even needed. We lived exactly one floor above the office, so the main transport was an elevator. Now we already have a car.

Metro in Dubai, almost like the whole city, space. It is very clean and bright. When compared with Kharkov, then, as they say in Odessa, these are two big differences.

Well and, of course, a taxi. Here it is the most popular transport. All cars are either Nissan Altima or Toyota Camry. With our Daewoo can not be compared.

Adaptation

At the moment I work as a flight attendant, fly around the world and get acquainted with a huge number of new people. Prior to that, she worked as a guest relation officer in a travel company.

This job is very complicated and, frankly, nervous and boring. Therefore, having worked out the required 2-year contract, I decided that something needs to be changed. And I applied to Emirates. Successfully!

People are completely different! In the UAE, local residents are less than 20%, while the rest are immigrants from India, Pakistan and the Philippines. Representatives of the CIS countries are also many. It’s unusual to see men in kanduris, women in abbaya ...

At first we talked only with colleagues at work. We had a Russian-speaking department. And now I have many friends. Thanks to the social networks for this, especially Instagram. This is something! How many wonderful people were able to learn thanks to him. I never cease to admire the man who invented this social network.

No matter how trite, but I really love the famous Dubai Mall and its singing fountains! And the city’s favorite area is the incredible Dubai Marina or as it is also called: Dubai Manhattan.

On weekends, we go to the beach to meet the sunset, and see friends. Sometimes we can go to another emirate, to Fujairah, for example, to the Indian Ocean. Or in a beach club lounging by the pool overlooking the sea. There is also an amazing desert, but you need to go there with professionals. It’s dangerous for yourself.

Stereotypes

For some reason, in Ukraine there was an active rumor that in an Arab country they could steal you and send you to work or become some third wife. Ha! The honor of being a “third wife” still needs to be earned, and the crime rate in the UAE is minimal. This is one of the safest countries in the world. Throughout the city, cameras, so do not forget to smile, you are always in the picture).

Becoming your own in another country is easy. One must be oneself, first of all, and find good in everything, enjoying life.
