The ruler of Dubai took over all the expenses of the family of a Russian tourist who died in the UAE

The ruler of the emirate of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, provided financial assistance to the family of a Russian tourist who died on vacation in the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum took upon himself all the expenses of the family of a tourist from Russia, who tragically and suddenly died on vacation in Dubai.

Recall that 57-year-old Natalya Popova felt bad on the beach in early November 2018, doctors diagnosed aortic rupture and underwent emergency surgery. It was not possible to save the patient - after surgery, her kidneys failed. The death of a Russian woman did not prevent the medical institution from issuing her astronomical account to her relatives for 641 thousand UAE dirhams (almost 200 thousand US dollars), which was not covered by standard travel insurance and by 10 percent. At the same time, contrary to unreliable information that was published in several news stories, the hospital did not restrict her daughter’s movements, did not take her passport and did not prevent her from leaving the UAE to Russia if such a decision were made.

From the very beginning, when the Russian woman was still alive and in the hospital, the situation was closely watched by Russian diplomats from the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Dubai. When a terrible thing happened, consulate staff and personally Oleg Fomin, Consul General of the Russian Federation, were negotiating with the hospital about the possibility of canceling or reducing the amount of the invoice. Final talks were scheduled for Sunday, November 25, but the ruler of Dubai closed all questions at once.

In a touching humanitarian gesture, the UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, provided financial assistance to the family of a tourist from Russia who died in one of Dubai's hospitals due to a sudden aortic rupture, having incurred payment of the bill from the hospital, transportation of the body of a tourist to her homeland, airline tickets to family members and other related expenses. Most likely, the decision on assistance was made on Friday, November 23, when the news in Arabic appeared on the RT Arabic website, which the ruler of Dubai could personally see.

Information on humanitarian assistance provided is available on the official website of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
