Dubai metro will be served by robots

Robots will be responsible for servicing the Dubai metro stations.

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) presented the cleaning robot of the American company Diversey at the Gitex Technology Week in the UAE.

Muhammad Hassan Al-Ameri, director of railway maintenance at RTA, said the robot will be used at metro stations as part of tests from the beginning of next year.

A “smart” robot is capable of doing all the work on its own, without human intervention - just fill its special tanks with water and cleaning products. According to the manufacturer's manual, the robot has rotating brushes for cleaning hard-to-reach corners.

The robot is environmentally friendly and can reduce water consumption by up to 76 percent and chemical consumption by up to 70 percent. In addition, the robot cleaner works quickly and efficiently, passing 2 km per hour.

The robot is equipped with 21 sonars, one 2D lidar, eight optical sensors for orientation in space and a touch screen on which various modes of operation and movement can be selected.
