UAE will send humanitarian aid to Sudan

UAE authorities issued an order to send humanitarian aid to Sudan.

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered the departure of humanitarian aid aircraft for flood victims in Sudan.

This noble gesture once again confirms the UAE’s determination to reach out to all peoples and countries in need.

Recall that in some parts of the Sudan, including the capital of the state, colossal rainfall fell, causing casualties, as well as forcing thousands of people to leave their homes due to the destruction of electricity networks, houses and serious damage to the communal infrastructure.

Recently, the Red Crescent Organization in the UAE conducted a first-aid operation for families affected by flooding in Sudan, providing the necessary materials for temporary housing and food rations.

According to a report by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), last year, the UAE became the largest donor country in the world, providing official assistance to other countries.

In total, the UAE's contribution to the development of other countries in 2017 amounted to 19.32 billion US dollars - 1.31% of the country's gross national income. It is worth noting that this figure is two times higher than international standards in the amount of 0.7%, which were established by the United Nations.

The amount of funds transferred in 2017 increased by 23.72% compared to 2016, when the Emirates allocated 15.57 billion.
