Almost three hundred medical facilities fined in Dubai during the year

In Dubai, about three hundred healthcare service providers were fined last year.

According to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), 261 medical facilities were fined in Dubai in 2017. The number of complaints about organizations providing medical services amounted to 357.

It is worth noting that this figure has decreased since 2016, when the number of fines amounted to 496.

Dr. Marwan Al Mullah, head of the Health Department, said that such a reduction was achieved through the introduction of a modernization system for monitoring private medical facilities. Medical service companies have become more serious about the quality of their services.

According to a senior official, the main reason for issuing fines lies in the failure of management or employees of a medical institution to comply with legal requirements.

Non-compliance with the rules of the law caused 103 of the total number of violations in 2017. Other causes of fines include the violation by institutions of technical and medical conditions, the lack of the necessary personnel to provide medical care, and the hiring of specialists without proper permission.

Mr. Al Mullah added that the authorities are considering violations in accordance with Resolution No. 32 of the Executive Council of 2012 "On the regulation of the activities of medical professionals in Dubai." The official added that the authorities are taking measures against violators, such as closing facilities, revoking a license, issuing warnings and re-evaluating facilities.

Mr. Al Mullah added that last year 346 new medical institutions were opened, the total number of medical organizations in Dubai is 3,115 facilities.

It is also worth noting that last year the number of issued professional licenses increased by 14,314 people. Thus, in Dubai, the number of health professionals was 37,325.

The head of the department noted that the growth of the healthcare sector was caused by a number of government programs aimed at improving the investment climate in Dubai and improving the quality of services provided.
