In Dubai, a woman from Russia who illegally provides cosmetic procedures was fined

A woman from Russia who illegally injected Botox into clients in Dubai was fined 10,000 dirhams.

The police received information that a woman from Russia at the age of 32 performed cosmetic procedures without a license in her apartment in the Jumeirah Lake Towers area.

Two officers, introducing themselves as clients, agreed to meet with a suspect in her apartment in order to allegedly enlarge her lips.

"We received information from the Ministry of Health and Prevention on the implementation of cosmetic procedures without a license to increase lips and breasts, including using fillers and Botox," the police said.

On November 6, two officers went to the suspect’s apartment.

"The suspect had a beauty parlor in the room, she informed us that she was giving consultations, and then she asked a colleague to lie on the bed to give her Botox injection," the police officer said.

The “doctor” already wanted to make an injection when police officers gave a signal to the waiting group outside to pick up the apartment and arrest the attacker.

One of the officers at a testimony in court told that the defendant called herself a dermatologist, and each of her procedures cost from 1200 to 1500 dirhams.

"She advertised her services on social networks. While in her apartment, we heard a knock on the door from potential customers several times. The pseudo-doctor said that she had a lot of clients," police said.

During the investigation, it was found that the accused, who arrived in the UAE in February 2017 and worked as a realtor, brought drugs from Russia with her.

During interrogation, the defendant said that she graduated from a medical university with a degree in dermatologist, but was unable to obtain a license to provide medical services in the UAE.

In court, a woman denied providing medical services to her clients, claiming that the items seized by the police belonged to her sister doctor.

"My sister works as a doctor, she came to the Emirates and brought the drugs with her. She tried to find a job as a doctor, but her searches were unsuccessful, her sister kept all medicines in the apartment, continuing to look for work," the accused said in court.

The defendant was found guilty of providing medical services without a license, possession of medicines and a threat to the lives of others.

The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced her to a fine of 10,000 dirhams.

Last month, the Dubai Health Authority urged citizens to carefully check the licenses of cosmetologists to avoid possible complications during the procedures.

"Health care providers must have the necessary documents and confirm the use of quality drugs to avoid complications," a DHA spokesman said.
