A foreigner will spend six months in prison for assaulting a policeman

A passenger who attacked a policeman at Dubai Airport was jailed for six months.

The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Australian transplant in Dubai to six months in prison and deportation for assaulting a policeman at the emirate's airport.

The 53-year-old defendant was heading from London to Sydney with a transfer in Dubai on July 25, 2017. Due to technical difficulties, his departure was delayed. Passengers were invited to stay at a hotel near Dubai International Airport. But first, customs inspectors had to check the baggage of passengers. The man refused to put his luggage in the scanning device. The police tried to convince the accused that he should nevertheless obey the rules. He repeatedly refused and shouted at a police officer.

The employee tried to detain the man, but he actively resisted. As a result, the men fell, and the policeman suffered injuries to his knee and ankle.
