In the UAE, a woman will go to jail for immoral videos

A court in the United Arab Emirates sentenced a woman to one year in prison and a fine for obscene social media videos.

The Abu Dhabi Federal Supreme Court sentenced the woman to one year in prison and a fine of AED 250 thousand ($ 68 thousand) for obscene social media videos.

The woman was found guilty of "broadcasting videos that violate public morality and contributed to debauchery." The accused’s accounts on social networks were closed.

The defendant was detained in December last year after an investigation by the cybercrime court, which revealed that the woman created social media accounts - Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter - to promote videos with immoral content.

The Office of the Prosecutor General of the UAE stated that it monitored the activities of women on the Internet, and during the investigation it was found that she had really violated the law.

The Prosecutor General’s Office also found that the woman created accounts on social networks where videos were broadcast that violate public morality and contribute to debauchery.

The cybercrime unit of the criminal investigation department seized a woman's computer and other electronic devices.
