Nearly $ 10 million robbers from private villa convicted in Dubai

Four men who carried out an armed attack on a villa in Dubai and stole jewelry worth 35 million dirhams ($ 9.5 million) will spend three years in prison each.

Two emirates, a soldier and an unemployed, a policeman from Yemen and a policeman from Somalia raided the villa of an emirate seller in Al Gharhoud on the night of July 3 this year. The men were armed with two pistols, a hammer, a screwdriver, an electric saw and another sharp tool.

The gang neutralized the watchman and tied him up, and after stole 300 expensive watches and antique jewelry from safes in the house. Among other things, a rare copy of the Holy Quran worth $ 150 thousand, a bag for $ 272 thousand and valuable documents were stolen.

The victim collects and resells valuables at auctions in the UAE and abroad.

Last September, in a Dubai criminal court, three accused denied robbery charges. The fourth pleaded guilty and testified against his accomplices.

Yemeni and Somali will be deported at the end of their prison term.
