Abu Dhabi Rare Car License Auction Held This Weekend

License plates for rare cars will be auctioned this Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

Rare car series 1 will be auctioned at the Emirates Palace this weekend to mark the sixtieth anniversary of the Abu Dhabi Police.

The auction will be held this Saturday, November 18, at 16:00 at the Emirates Palace Hotel.

Bidding for license plate number 2 will start from 5 million dirhams ($ 1.36 million). Other numbers will include No. 10 at a starting price of $ 62.6 thousand and No. 11 - $ 65.3 thousand. Numbers 22, 101, 110, 333, 600, 999, 1111, 6666, 1000 and 55555 will also be displayed. Number 1957 will be offered at a starting price of 1000 dirhams ($ 272).

Part of the collected money will be donated to charity.

The cost of each sign varies depending on the serial number and the emirate, with the most popular numbers from Abu Dhabi and Dubai with the smallest numbers on them.

Last November, the license plate number 1 of the 50 series in honor of the country's Golden Jubilee was sold for 31 million dirhams ($ 8.4 million) to Abdullah Al-Mahri. Just a few weeks earlier, Indian billionaire Balwinder Sahni had paid $ 8.9 million for a number for one of his Rolls Royces - D5 - during an auction in Dubai.
