From June 19 to August 22, 2008 in Dubai will host the eleventh annual festival "Dubai Summer Surprises." This is the main summer shopping and family-entertainment holiday in the region. Unlike the programs of previous festivals, when each week of surprises was devoted to a certain topic, since 2007 all topics have been set once and for all, and will remain relevant throughout this and subsequent festivals. So, tourists can even in the short term of their stay in Dubai enjoy the whole variety of entertainment events held in shopping centers. Following the example of last year, special events will be organized not only for young children, but also for adolescents and adults.
The guests of the Dubai festival are waiting for traditional gastronomic, floral surprises, as well as surprises on water and on ice. And within the framework of the week of “Heritage Surprises”, the history and culture of the Arab world will be revealed: folklore shows, displays of traditional clothes and sports, for example, falconry, will be held. Since its inception, the Dubai Summer Surprises Festival, thanks to a wide variety of events, has made a huge contribution to promoting Dubai as a leading summer destination for a wide range of tourists from all over the world, combining elements of shopping, practical jokes and family entertainment. Not surprisingly, in 2007, 2.3 million people took part in it, which is 25% more than in 2006. During its holding, more than 5 billion dirhams (an increase of 50% compared with the previous year) were spent on purchases, food, accommodation and transport.
