Dubai Shopping Festival is back or ... no one has canceled the holidays!

Elena Balina, our regular author and a passionate lover of excursions, travels, festivals, exhibitions and concerts, Disappointing forecasts of the consequences of the global financial crisis plunge into gloom not only businessmen, but also average inhabitants, because everything reflects on them rebounding. The end of the year, when it was necessary to take stock and plan for the future, turned out to be fussy, crumpled and completely unhappy. But no one canceled the holidays! As before, Catholic Christmas, the Muslim New Year, the Gregorian New Year and Orthodox Christmas are coming all over the Earth, and all this is accompanied by winter school holidays. Children, like no one else, look forward to festive events, gifts under the tree, and they are completely uninteresting in our adult problems. So let's move them to the backyards for a while and remember that there is a place for a holiday in life! After noisy feasts, it is useful to refresh yourself with shopping therapy. The annual Dubai Trade Festival will not be long in coming, it will start on January 15, 2009 and will last a whole month, right up to February 15.

Dubai Trade Festival is an event that has been repeating from year to year since 1996. Why is it so expected and attractive, both for residents of the country and for its guests, because price reductions occur at other times of the year? Because this month, the largest number of sponsors is included in the draws of numerous prizes and gifts, in total discounts on goods and the organization of holiday performances, and this year their names have already been announced. Dubai Retail, a member of Dubai Properties, represents The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence and Dubai Mall as two new sponsors in addition to its regular members: AA Al Moosa Enterprises, Dubai Festival City, Al Ghurair City, Al Rostamani Group, AW Rostamani Group , BurJuman, Dubai Gold & Jewelery Group, Dubai Duty Free, Dubai Outlet Mall, Dubai Refreshments - Pepsi, Dubai World Trade Center, Emirates Airline, Emirates NBD, ENOC, Jumbo, Majid Al Futtaim Group, Mashreq, Mercato, VISA, and Wafi . His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of the DTF organizing committee, noted that "in the context of the crisis, the holding of the Trade Festival will help restore and support some areas of the economy, primarily retail sales and tourism, and reduce the negative impact of the current situation." The director general of the office of the Dubai Trade Festival Leyla Suheil hopes that "the Festival will become a powerful catalyst for tourists, especially in terms of material prize rewards." In addition to lowering prices for branded goods, drawing cars, lotteries, giving prizes to customers, each day of the Trade Festival will be marked by unique show programs and colorful events: performances by artists and folklore groups from different countries on the stage of theater venues and improvised stages of the World Village faculty in a demonstration of the loudest screech, screaming, whistling, clapping, the fastest sending a text message and typing on a computer keyboard with his nose. The spectacle will be not only gambling, but also very funny.

Among the first announced sponsors of the Dubai Trade Festival, the largest in the region is the Dubai Mall, which opened in early November 2008 in the new Downtown Burj Dubai. For such a short period, it has already managed to appeal to guests and residents of the country, not only due to the incredible number of shops and outlets, but also to the giant ice rink and the amazing Dubai Aquarium with the Discovery Center (Dubai Aquarium & Discovery Center). During the winter holidays for children, this place will become a pilgrimage center for tens or even hundreds of thousands of small and large lovers of winter sports and the underwater world. Through the huge - from floor to ceiling - panoramic glass of the aquarium against the background of the night starry sky, the leisurely movement of numerous multi-colored fish schools, graceful "flights" of flocks of ramps, so similar to ghosts or some unearthly creatures, imposing flanneling of reef and bottom sharks and magnificent incredible sizes of hamurs - sea bass. Amidst all this fish splendor, a scuba diver in a black and yellow suit appears from time to time and courageously feeds “tame” predators right from the palm of his hand. About 33,000 species of fish and marine animals have been collected in the 48-meter-high tunnel of the Discovery Center closed by the walls. In addition to tiger sharks, piranhas, sea cucumbers, starfish and giant groupers, here you can get acquainted with penguins, fur seals and nutria. However, it is better to see once than hear a hundred times. And this was repeatedly convinced by guests who have been there recently. The doors of the Center are open from 10 am to midnight for everyone.

Winter entertainment venues in Dubai have become popular ever since the Frozen World Mobile Pavilion (Frozen World) was installed in Dubai Creek Park throughout the unbearably hot summer season. Powerful refrigeration units were hidden under the tarpaulin roof, which made it possible to keep the ice slides, labyrinths and statues, symbols of various cities of the world, from melting during the 40-degree heat. Today, rarely does anyone recall the "Frozen World" of the past, because present-day Dubai has firmly and reliably established itself as a winter sports populist by offering its residents a ski run and a snow town in the Sky Dubai complex, Hyatt Regency, Leisureland and Dubai Mall ice rinks. So, children and adults will have something to do on Christmas and New Year holidays, in addition to attending traditional events with Christmas trees.

And the Dubai Festival, as before, will be held under the motto "One World. One Family. One Festival" and will delight its many guests with expensive prizes, a traditional gold lottery, dizzying discounts and colorful performances to be shown by artists from around the world, including including from Russia and the CIS countries. All the best - from carnival processions, theatrical and circus performances, colorful fireworks - offers the annual and most joyful Dubai Trade Festival 2009! Do not miss! After all, no one has yet canceled the holidays.
