MITT 2010 The whole world in four days

From March 17 to March 20, 2010 in Moscow at the Expocentre Fairgrounds on Krasnaya Presnya the 17th international exhibition MITT2010 Travel and Tourism was held.

The exhibition became an important event in the field of tourism and once again confirmed its status as the largest tourist forum in Russia and the CIS countries, opening the spring-summer season.

The scale of the event, one of the five leading tourism exhibitions in the world, speaks for itself: this year MITT occupied 8 exhibition halls of the Expocentre Fairgrounds with a total area of ​​about 50,000 square meters. m. The exhibition was attended by 1750 leading companies and national tourism offices. The organizer is ITE Moscow. The exhibition was officially supported by: the Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation; Commission of the Council of the Federation of the Russian Federation on youth affairs and tourism; Committee on Tourism of the city of Moscow; Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on Culture; Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on issues of family, women and children; Russian Geographical Society and the National Guild of Tourist Press.

In Pavilion No. 1, Russian tour operators on outbound and domestic tourism, sections "Information Technologies in Tourism" and "River Cruises" were represented. Pavilion No. 2 houses expositions of the countries of Europe and the Mediterranean. The Forum pavilion was occupied by expositions of the countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America, Australia and Oceania, and the islands. The exposition of Turkey, Turkish hotels and hotel chains, as well as the largest Russian tour operators, for which the Turkish direction is a priority, was presented in two halls of Pavilion No. 8.

Hall 3 of Pavilion 8 was announced by the Russia Pavilion. Exactly there were stands of Krasnodar Territory, the city of Sochi, Caucasian Mineral Waters, the combined stand "Three Capitals: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan", as well as stands of other Russian regions, hotels, resorts and companies organizing tours in Russia. On the open square are Russian tour operators of bus tours.

The official opening ceremony of MITT took place on March 17, 2010. It brought together well-known politicians, journalists, businessmen and travelers. By tradition, the first to take the floor was ITE Moscow CEO Alexander Shtalenkov. After welcoming the guests, he passed the floor to Igor Yeremin, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation, who read out a welcome messageA message from the head of the department Vitaly Mutko, who supports the exhibition, to the participants and guests of MITT. The next word was taken by the Chairman of the Committee on Tourism of the Government of Moscow Grigory Antyufeev. He recalled that the Moscow government supported the MITT exhibition for all 17 years, "realizing that this is an important tool in the development of tourism in the capital."

The partner country of MITT 2010 is Greece. Therefore, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the country, Aggeliki Gereku, spoke at the opening ceremony, who noted: "Representing Greece at one of the largest tourism exhibitions in Europe is a great joy and, at the same time, responsibility." In conclusion, Russell Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of ITE Group PLC, spoke: "I am pleased that the MITT exhibition is as successful as last year, and today it presents so many different tourist destinations." At the end of the ceremony, guests traditionally cut a red ribbon.

The geography of tourism destinations presented at MITT has increased significantly. The exhibition was attended by companies representing 185 tourist destinations from 77 countries of the world, as well as 86 separate national and regional pavilions.

According to tradition, March 17 and 18 were declared the days of a professional visitor. Entrance to the exhibition these days was open only to travel industry professionals. The private audience was able to visit the exhibition in the remaining two days. On the first day of MITT's work, the exhibition was visited by 38.6% more specialists than in the same period last year.

The number of unique visitors who registered at the exhibition in 4 days, according to an independent exhibition audit, amounted to 46,300 people. This is an increase of 16.9% compared to MITT-2009. The total number of visits for the entire exhibition was 79,850 people.

A rich business event consisting of international conferences, seminars and master classes, presentations of new directions, as well as other events was held as part of the exhibition. For 4 days, the MITT 2010 exhibition turned into a large meeting room - with meetings of national delegations, negotiations and discussion of new tourism products for the spring-summer season. Professional visitors to the exhibition received a large amount of new information and catalogs.

Sergey Kanaev, Director of the representative office of the Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing of the Government of Dubai, said: “Without a doubt, the spring exhibition MITT in Moscow was marked by increased interest from the tourism industry. The Dubai booth was visited by 10-15% more professionals than last year. Among visitors, the number of decision-makers of travel companies: directors, direction managers, has significantly increased.We also note an increase in the share of tour operator companies, but the main thing, in my opinion, is that Russian industry has retained its potential, as demonstrated by the MITT exhibition.
