Feet and yards in the United Arab Emirates will be replaced by meters

Muhammad Saleh Badri, and. about. Director General of the UAE Office of Standardization and Metrology (Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, ESMA), announced the intention of the country's authorities to introduce meters instead of feet and yards, without, however, providing accurate information about when exactly this will be done.

According to Badri, the transition to meters will extend to all official and commercial activities in the country, in particular, this applies to the real estate sector of the United Arab Emirates. The decision to change the system of measures and weights is fully consistent with the state decree on the transition from the imperial system of units to the metric.

Recall that at the beginning of this year, the first change was already introduced in the UAE - fuel at gas stations is now measured in liters, not gallons.
