By the end of this year, a new tourist attraction will appear in Sharjah - a 220-meter singing fountain, the opening of which is part of the plan for equipping the Al Majaz embankment worth 100 million dirhams (US $ 27.5 million).
"The arrangement of the Al Majaz promenade is one of the emirate’s most important projects. Thanks to the singing fountain with a width of 220 m and a height of 110 m, 20 music and laser shows will be held daily using 5 different video projections on the water screen. According to our plan, the singing fountain will become the main attraction new project, "said Marwan Jasim Al Sarkal, executive director of the Shurooq Investment and Construction Department.
A similar singing fountain with a height of 150 m and a width of 275 m is already in Dubai in the design of the tallest building in the world Burj Khalifa. Every day, the Dubai Fountain becomes part of the show, which is accompanied by the best works of classical and modern music.
The opening of the singing fountain in Sharjah is not at all dictated by the desire to compete with the Dubai Fountain. The main desire of the Sharjah government, in this case, is to attract additional tourist flow to the emirate, as well as to increase interest in residents of other emirates in Sharjah real estate.
To date, work on the project is 60% completed. The preliminary opening of the singing fountain is scheduled for October 2011, while the official opening of the project will take place in November 2011.
According to Mr. Al Sarkal, 4,700 square meters. m of squares adjacent to the fountain were involved in the construction of 8 new restaurants and cafes in which visitors can dine while enjoying a music show.
